The market for renewables is still very conservative and stakeholders are reluctant to explore with new technology, said Ashutosh Yadav, Head, B.D. (India), Meteo Control India, while giving an update on the renewable energy market. He said that having technology and software is just one aspect while dealing with hardware is another. “Meteo Control helps people achieve long-term goals with the help of advanced technologies,” he added.

He said that the solar sector in India is undergoing a learning curve and the industry will gradually learn to explore and evolve. “The thing that we do differently as compared to our competitors is that we provide end-to-end solutions – monitoring, control and even forecasting,” he said.  In addition, Sunil Joshi, Business Head – Products, Sileaf, highlighted that the renewable sector is faced with umpteen challenges on both the business and the industry side. On the business front, he added, one challenge is the smart grid system that is based on government tenders so that a major portion of installation takes place through government sponsors and subsidised teams.
