CAHORS is an international group specialized in the development of energy distribution networks and telecommunication networks. Could you brief us about its presence in the energy segment in India?

Groupe CAHORS is an international manufacturer of distribution transformers and having a growing presence in the Indian energy segment. Moving ahead with 8th year in India, we have been receiving an overwhelming response from all major consultants, contractors, end-users, channel partners due to our technology, enrich experience and quality standards. In addition to a few government and private utilities, we are doing good in the private segment for supplying our world-class distribution transformers and compact substations across India. In fact, we are also associated with all major export houses of India who are working for international utility grid networks in Africa, Europe and other countries in Asia. One of the milestones for us that we have supplied around 55 numbers of 950 KVA 33 kV Inverter Duty Transformers to wind power plants in India. On a broader note, we are well-connected to many government organisations like railways, defence, municipal corporations, electricity boards and also working very closely with many private segments like the automobile, pharma, forging industries, renewable energy (wind and solar), malls, hotels, hospitals, institutes etc.

Transfix India is a group company for Groupe Cahors. Tell us about your expertise in the transformer business.

Although, the transformer industry is having a high competition with over 1,000 of manufacturers in India. However, we being an international manufacturer, is one of the preferred manufacturers for hermetically sealed non-gas cushion-based technology which make the transformer more compact and reduces maintenance liabilities of the user. Even we have also developed environment-friendly, K-Class natural ester oil-based Eco-Green Transformers in 2014 with our supplier. It offers fire-safe operational life with high loading capacities and extended life span due to its oil properties. These transformers are earlier supplied to Tata Power and considering the social cause of safety aspect, it is already being re-launched for the private segment. More than 50 per cent of our supply of Eco-Green Transformers are installed for replacement of old non-sealed type transformers to counter oil leakages and frequent maintenance issues with safety or environmental aspect of oil.

How big is your manufacturing facility located at Pune? What are the products you produce there?

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in Ranjangaon MIDC of Pune, Maharashtra which is one of the best infrastructure based MIDCs and located at almost 60 kms away from Pune airport towards Aurangabad. This facility is established in 2012 in 5 acres area. Alexandre Ramat, Managing Director, Transfix India Pvt Ltd Electrical India | March 2020 65 is designed to produce around 8,000 transformers for utility-size transformers and more than 75 compact substations (CSS) in a year. So far, we have exported around 7,500 transformers to more than 30 countries from India and having more than 1,000 transformers and CSS in India. Additionally, our group company named Tek Component Pvt Ltd is also sharing this facility for their low-voltage and telecommunications product line.

What are your USPs?

Our USP is to offer leak-proof, low maintenance and highly efficient transformers, giving the lowest cost of ownership in the benefit of customers. This USP has given us an opportunity to receive repeated orders from many customers on a regular basis.

What are your expansion plans?

Presently, we are trying to move ahead with our existing setup. However, we are definitely looking forward to expanding our existing facility in the near future to increase our production capacity to cater to market requirements.

Are you introducing any new product?

Yes. This month, we are producing our first furnace duty transformer and eventually, we will be working more on specialized applications. We are thankful to all our customers for their trust in us and looking forward to strengthening our roots in India in future as well.
